A Strobelight Summer

Description

Bands often fall into the trap of not being able to brand themselves effectively – more importantly, being able to keep the brand consistent across mediums and time. The band affectionately known as “A.S.S.” wanted a strong image to launch a demo CD and spice up their Myspace site – something to attract the eyes of key players in the music industry.

Rather than the typical punk-rock ‘band logo’ (think cliché high school scrawls of Metallica inspired creations) – the band wanted something to reflect the fact that they were different to the rest. I chose to mix a blend of Superheroism and warm unexpected vibrant colours – things reflective of the band’s personality.

The sunset palette may be drawn from the obvious ‘Summer’ naming, but screams against the dark black and works well applied to photography.

The layout and typeface of the wordmark conveys confidence and a sense of slick class, the latter something not always present in a punk-rock band.
