Description
As a Contiki tradition, the group gets to design their own t-shirt. Being one the only Graphic Designer with a laptop in the group, the responsibility quickly fell onto me to come up with something that would appease everyone.
The trick was to include things that everyone had been a part of, things elemental to the trip itself. Suggestions of quotations and mugshots were initially considered, but later scrapped as they felt not as inclusive (not everyone had heard the quote when it was first said) or was a waste of valuable design space (40+ mugshots in 1 colour ink wasn’t terribly exciting).
In the end the main design elements were: Europe as a whole (the tour name was European Escapade), Countries the tour went through, the groups names, and the name and date of the tour.
The design encapsulates (sometimes sneakily!) a symbol from each of the 12 counties we visited, all surrounded by the EU symbol of 12 stars and two rings of the names of people on board the tourbus.
The design received great feedback and despite a minor sizing issue with the printing company, was a great success.
