QR Billboard Competition
Description
The QR Emerging Artists Billboard competition was a citywide search to find the best up-and-coming artists and promote them within a public space.
The brief was to interpret the Valley’s famous music scene, a culture which the suburb is reknowned for, a turn it into a visual piece of design and art. The final work was to represent the Valley as an entertainment ‘hub’ – a source of inspiration and excitement.
My winning entry focussed around the Rorschach ink blots – a test in which a subject is asked to interpret the shapes. Music is essentially the same, with each pound of the bass or strum of guitar a new way to interpret and appreciate music. This theory, combined with vibrant colours and energetic ‘blobs’ led to an aestheically pleasing and eye-catching piece.
